Who among us doesn't like beautiful teeth? They attract everyone, every person wants to have an attractive smile. Now is the time when even imperfect teeth can be restored. For this purpose there is a miracle toothpaste Apadent.
Apadent is a space toothpaste developed by Japanese specialists. The advantage of this product is its special composition. The product has unique characteristics; it is able to replenish lost minerals such as phosphorus and calcium. As a result, the enamel is restored, its strength increases, and the formation of caries is prevented by 48%.
Nano-mHAP is the main active ingredient
The main active substance in this product is medical hydroxyapatite (nano-mHAP®).
It is identical to the natural material of teeth and bone tissue. In the human mouth, mineral elements are simultaneously washed out and replenished, but for various reasons, demineralization often prevails over remineralization. As a result, teeth lose calcium and other important elements, which overall negatively affects their health.
Scientists have found a way out of this situation - artificial remineralization. It is done using special means, or using pastes that fill the enamel with hydroxyapatite in high concentrations.
Products containing nano-mHAP may differ in effectiveness. The reason for this is the size of the particles of the building material for teeth. The smaller they are, the more actively the enamel is replenished with minerals, which means the higher their ability to penetrate the hard shell. The most useful particles are those that are nanosized. They very well ensure the flow of minerals in the required quantities to the tooth enamel.
Apadent paste uses exactly these particles.
Details about how medical nano-hydroxyapatite works (clickable)
Medical nano-hydroxyapatite was invented back in 1978 in Japan. It was recognized as an effective anti-caries substance. Studies conducted in 1986-1988 proved that hygiene products containing this active component in sufficient concentration prevent the formation of caries by 46-48%.
Both the natural material and its synthetic substitute are characterized by restorative abilities. Therefore, medical nano-hydroxyapatite is widely used in orthopedics and dentistry. It is used to make dental cement, hard shells for crowns, restore bones, and also produce active food additives, since this substance contains calcium phosphate.
Reviews
Andrey, dentist, Moscow: As for me, this is just another advertising ploy and an invention of marketers - no “nanotechnology” is capable of completely restoring damaged tooth enamel; only conventional filling materials can do this. This paste can be used for daily brushing of teeth and oral care, but you should not hope for a “miracle effect” (especially if you pay such crazy money for Apadent).
Irina, 36 years old, Kursk: My husband and I ordered this paste on the Internet, rather out of curiosity - the Japanese developers managed to fool our domestic brains too well. We’ve been using it for about a month and don’t see any effect as such - everything is the same as with other pastes, except for the price, of course.
Stanislav, 32 years old, Irkutsk: I like how Apadent works. I’ve been brushing my teeth with this paste for only a few months, the enamel has stopped “reacting violently” to hot and cold (it was simply impossible before), my teeth have become whiter. I will continue to use it, maybe I won’t have to put fillings in so often.
Maria, dentist, St. Petersburg: Good paste, although not cheap. Apadent meets all the requirements for dental products, and thanks to nano-particles it actually restores the crystalline structure of the enamel. You need to keep up with the times and use modern developments of scientists.
So, Apadent is a toothpaste with a filling effect, which has earned both positive and negative reviews from doctors and customers. The main advantage of the product is a comprehensive restorative effect on tooth enamel, its protection from further destruction, the disadvantage is its high cost.
Therapeutic effect on enamel
Impact of medical nano-hydroxyapatite on enamel:
- Elimination of cracks in hard dental tissues . The active substance fills all the depressions located on the surface of the enamel, thus leveling it. After this, it becomes smooth, which is why there are fewer places for plaque to accumulate in the pores of the enamel.
- Replenishment of mineral losses under the surface of the hard shell. When the enamel loses calcium, the development of caries is provoked. Nano-mHAP nanoparticles act as an additional source of minerals, which promotes tooth remineralization. This substance increases the density of enamel and its natural translucency, adding whiteness to the smile.
- Removing plaque from the surface of teeth . This oral care product is better than others in cleaning teeth from deposits due to the formation of strong bonds with proteins. This allows the hydroxyapatite to recombine with microorganisms and thereby remove plaque.
Thus, Apadent toothpaste provides teeth with a natural mineral balance and protection.
Operating principle
The product begins to “work” at the first contact with the teeth. Nano-HAP in its structure resembles the components that make up the crystal lattice of enamel, therefore during cleaning it is literally “built into” it, providing a filling effect.
Apadent toothpaste is able to penetrate microcracks and enamel damage, fill them, and stimulate the crystallization process. According to manufacturers, nano-HAP is not washed out and remains in the tooth structure, making it stronger and more resistant to “attacks” of negative external factors.
Line overview
The entire Apadent product line has similar characteristics, but each product has its own characteristics. Let's look at the general and distinctive properties.
Total care - a means for prevention and treatment
This paste is therapeutic and prophylactic. It contains medical nano-hydroxyapatite, which increases the strength of the dentition, prevents the development of caries and ensures the health and strength of the enamel.
At the initial stage, the fight against caries is very effective, as demineralized enamel is restored.
In addition to the general active substance, Apadent Total care contains 3 additional ones. These are the following components:
- triterpenic acid - is an antioxidant, has an anti-inflammatory effect, has a positive effect on wound healing;
- beta-glycyrrhetinic acid also serves as an anti-inflammatory substance, narrows capillaries, relieves swelling, and creates protection against periodontal disease;
- cytylpyridinium chloride reduces plaque formation.
This product does not contain bleaches or other abrasive ingredients. It is completely free of fluorides.
Apadent Total Care paste is suitable for all people without age restrictions, expectant mothers and children. The product is useful for dental care for people who have high tooth sensitivity and wear orthodontic appliances.
Sensitive for sensitive enamel
The product is intended for sensitive teeth and gums in which an inflammatory process has developed. The additional active ingredient potassium nitrate has a dual effect:
- in combination with medical nano-hydroxyapatite, it reaches areas of increased sensitivity and cements them;
- They block the endings of the nerves, due to which pain impulses disappear.
Hydroxyapatite nanoparticles are good at cleaning teeth from plaque and deposits. This ensures high-quality oral hygiene and restores the original whiteness of the teeth. Just like the previous product, the paste actively takes part in remineralization.
Apadent Sensitive paste contains cetylpyridinium chloride. It has an antibacterial effect and also reduces the formation of deposits. B-glycyrrhizic acid prevents inflammation in the gums.
Sensitive paste is used for oral care by adults and children. The product performs the function of remineralizing enamel and blocks nerve endings in case of increased tooth sensitivity. The product has a citrus aroma and taste.
Paste for children – Apadent Kids
This paste is specially designed for children. It helps maintain high dental health.
The active substance in this product is also medical nano-hydroxyapatite, so the paste performs all the same functions as previous care products. In addition to its therapeutic properties, Apadent Kids is used as a prophylactic against caries in children.
Apadent Kids has a great grape-strawberry taste, xnj kids really like it. It does not contain coloring substances or components such as fluorides, parabens, SLS.
Apadent Professional for professional use
The manufacturer produces not only toothpastes, but also a substance for professional dental restoration of demineralized enamel surfaces after clinical procedures (whitening, professional dental cleaning, etc.).
Characteristics of Apadent Professional:
- carries out remineralization of enamel;
- provides protection against plaque and solid deposits;
- returns the smoothness and transparency of the hard layer to the teeth.
This remedy is used after;
- enamel lightening;
- polishing the upper dental layer;

I have an opinion
Opinion of practicing specialists and reviews of consumers who use unique Apadent toothpastes.
The entire Apadent product line contains the active substance hydroxyapatite, which is a natural building material for dental tissue. In these products, it is crushed to nanosizes and, when brushing your teeth, it is organically integrated into all the cracks, after which the enamel becomes more uniform and stronger. Pastes also perfectly eliminate plaque and bleeding gums.
The safety and biocompatibility of hydroxyapatite allows all family members, even children, to use these products. If people used nano-mHAP-based products more often, then we dentists would have less work.
Valery, dentist
On the advice of our dentist, we purchased Apadent toothpaste. After some time, we noticed that the quality of teeth cleaning became noticeably higher. In the end, we were very pleased with our purchase!
Maxim and Alina, Krasnoyarsk
For a long period I felt the high sensitivity of the enamel. And now, after using Apadent Sensative paste, everything fell into place: I can eat either cold or hot dishes, nothing bothers me anymore. I recommend it to you too!
Olga, Saratov
This is a great toothpaste for pregnant women. I am impressed by the feeling of the smoothness of the enamel and the presence of cleanliness, and I also like the economy of its consumption. After the birth of the child, not a single hole formed in the teeth for a whole year, and the bleeding of the gums disappeared!

Despite the development of modern dentistry and the widespread use of fluoride-containing toothpastes, the prevalence of caries and dental hypersensitivity continues to increase. Among the reasons for increased tooth sensitivity are non-carious lesions (wedge-shaped defects and erosions) (Fig. 1 a, b), exposure of tooth roots due to periodontopathy (Fig. 2), professional whitening (Fig. 3) and, of course, caries (Fig. 4).
Traditionally, to eliminate sensitivity, drugs containing fluoride ions, desensitizers and toothpastes aimed at reducing sensitivity are used [1]. However, the effect of most of them is temporary and after some time sensitivity appears again. Due to the fact that increased tooth sensitivity interferes with adequate tooth brushing and promotes the formation of a mature biofilm, the issue of eliminating sensitivity is directly related to the prevention of inflammatory periodontal diseases and caries.
Currently, the most effective drug for eliminating or reducing dental hypersensitivity, regardless of its cause, is hydroxyapatite. A number of manufacturers introduce hydroxyapatite in nanoform (nano-HAP) into toothpastes for home and professional use. Toothpastes with nano-HAP have become widespread in Japan. Recent research by the well-known company Sangi has made it possible to develop and introduce Apadent toothpaste, the active ingredient of which is medical nano-HAP, whose high preventive effectiveness is based on the fact that about 97% of tooth enamel and 70% of dentin contain hydroxyapatite. Therefore, when applied topically, hydroxyapatite nanoparticles contained in toothpastes and gels help restore the mineral density of the surface and subsurface layers of enamel, ensuring the smoothness of its surface and preventing the development of caries [2]. Interacting with dentin, nano-HAP clogs dentinal tubules, incl. forming HAP-protein complexes. This completely prevents vibrations of the dentinal fluid, so increased tooth sensitivity is significantly reduced or disappears. Analyzing scanning electron microphotographs of dentin after bleaching and treatment with a paste containing nano-HAP, R. Takikawa et al. (2007) found that nano-HAP particles not only clog the openings of the dentinal tubules, but also form a pronounced protective layer [7]. H. Kawamata et al., studying the surface of teeth treated with nano-HAP, fully confirmed this, finding not only complete occlusion of open dentinal tubules, but also a protective layer 1.8 microns thick located on the surface of dentin [3]. W. Browning et al. Based on the analysis of data obtained using a visual analogue scale, it was found that nano-HAP quickly eliminates tooth sensitivity that occurs after whitening procedures [2].
However, the effect of nano-HAP as a means of caries prevention is of greatest interest. In addition to the direct effect on the surface and subsurface layers of demineralized enamel, it was found that the caries-preventive effect of nano-HAP can be associated, incl. with its ability to sorb polysaccharides produced by Streptococcus mutans and lipoteichoic acid. This means that it is nano-HAP that reduces the adhesive ability of dental plaque and the ability of microorganisms to aggregate [4]. An important fact should be considered that toothpastes based on HAP have the lowest abrasiveness and practically do not damage the surface of the teeth, because nano-HAP is applied in the form of a gel or extremely fine particles [5].
The mechanism of action of nano-HAP allows us to recommend toothpastes containing it for both individual and professional use, due to the fact that in addition to the toothpaste for individual use Apadent, presented on the Russian market, our dentists now have access to toothpaste for professional use Apadent Pro .
Clinical example No. 1. Using professional toothpaste “Apadent Pro” to eliminate tooth sensitivity
Paste with nano-HAP was used in eight patients with wedge-shaped defects, in cases where the patients temporarily refused filling due to the small size of the defect (Fig. 5 a and b). To prevent the defect from deepening, patients were recommended to use an atraumatic cleaning technique and soft toothbrushes. In addition, it was recommended to refrain from taking sour juices; if it is impossible to refuse sour juices, rinse your mouth immediately after eating and start brushing your teeth no earlier than an hour later. The effectiveness of treatment with professional paste Apadent Pro was assessed based on the determination of the Schiff index, based on identifying the threshold of tooth sensitivity using an air jet according to Schiff [6]. The test was carried out as follows: air from the gun of the dental unit was supplied perpendicular to the cervical surface of the tooth from a distance of 1 cm for a second. Tooth sensitivity was assessed using the following criteria: 0 – no reaction; 1 – feeling of discomfort, but the patient does not insist on stopping the test; 2 – discomfort accompanied by a request to stop the test; 3 – severe pain reaction with pronounced motor reactions aimed at immediately stopping the test. The Schiff index was determined before treatment, immediately after treatment and a week later. If discomfort returned, patients were asked to come back for an appointment.
The results of the study showed that even a single treatment of the area of wedge-shaped defects with Apadent Pro gave a lasting clinical effect. The Schiff index before treatment was 2.37±0.09. Immediately after treatment it decreased to 0.8±0.24. When determining the Schiff index after a week, we obtained 1.0±0.7. Within a month, none of the patients came for re-treatment. The patients were recommended to use Apadent toothpaste for daily use.
Clinical example No. 2
To evaluate the remineralization potential of Apadent Pro professional paste, we used it in patients with caries in the white spot stage. The patient complained that due to the rough surface of the white spots on teeth 43 and 44, he could not effectively remove plaque (Fig. 6).
Indeed, upon examination, the presence of caries in the white spot stage of teeth 43 and 44 was revealed. When dried, the surface does not shine, is rough upon probing, and the cervical area is covered with plaque. The algorithm for remineralizing therapy with nano-HAP included the removal of plaque from the tooth to be treated. Then the surface was dried and treated with antimicrobial treatment. For this, we used an ozone-air mixture generated by the ProZone device for 6 seconds, because treatment of the tooth surface with ozone gas prevents the formation of biofilm by strains of S. mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus [3]. Exposure to the ozone-air mixture helped stop the leakage of gingival fluid or exudate of the gingival pocket. Apadent Pro professional paste was applied to the dried surface, and the procedure was carried out three times. For home use, Apadent paste was recommended and the mandatory use of plaque control by staining. When examined a week after completion of remineralization therapy, the color of the spots remained white, but its surface became smooth. The patient reported that now high-quality cleaning of teeth 43 and 44 is not difficult.
The given clinical examples clearly demonstrate the high effectiveness of the paste for professional use Apadent Pro, containing nano-HAP, as a means for remineralizing therapy of caries in the white spot stage and eliminating the sensitivity of teeth with wedge-shaped defects.
